“I am not fine!” Emmy Jo enunciated, clipping the “T” in irritation, and stood up, her arms tense, her hands curled into fists. “What if the current had swept me out into the river. I could’ve drowned."

 

"Then I most certainly would’ve come in after you on my trusty steed, lassoed you with my sturdy rope, and dragged your lovely, although rule-breaking behind, out of the river and onto shore.”

 

His eyes danced with mischief as his lips curved into an unmistakable smirk. She already wanted to hate him...
